William Birch Takes Centre Stage

William Birch has been put centre stage in the redevelopment of a Harrogate school’s main hall and has been appointed by Ashville College, to undertake the £2.25 million transformation of its Soothill Hall into one of the finest, mid-size auditoriums in the Harrogate District.

The project, which is earmarked for completion before the end of the year, includes new seating, motorized lighting gantries, energy-efficient lights, improved access, stage lift, balcony and control room.

The work will also allow for the re-configuration of the school’s main entrance by the 1st cricket square, and give a better impression to visitors and prospective parents.

Ashville College estates manager Neil Parker said:

“At £2.25 million, the Soothill Hall project is the single biggest project the school has undertaken in recent years.

“This takes investment in the school’s infrastructure to more than £8 million in the last six years. We invited a number of local companies to tender for the work, and, after careful consideration, we appointed William Birch.

“They have an excellent reputation and we are very much looking forward to seeing the work progress over the coming months.”

David Nunns, William Birch contracts manager, said:

“We are delighted to have been appointed by Ashville College on such an important project.
“Soothill Hall has served the school well for the last four decades, and it’s our job to bring it into the 21st century an deliver a first-class facility not only the school can be proud of, but the whole district too. We look forward to seeing the hall completed later this year.”
