Simon Potter
Simon joined William Birch in 1984 as an apprentice bricklayer and has progressed through site management and contracts management roles during a long and distinguished career with the business. Appointed Construction Director in 2016, Simon now leads the operational delivery of all construction services across the company and wider region.
With over four decades of industry experience, Simon is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of projects, ensuring that programmes, resources and delivery teams are aligned to achieve consistent, high-quality outcomes. His oversight spans new build, refurbishment and complex heritage restoration schemes, where his practical background and deep technical knowledge provide assurance to clients that projects will be delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Simon also plays a key role in managing the company’s participation in several regional construction frameworks, acting as Framework Manager and maintaining strong relationships with clients and partners. Through this role he ensures projects secured through these frameworks are programmed effectively, resourced appropriately and delivered in line with client expectations.
Known for his collaborative approach and strong attention to detail, Simon is committed to maintaining the company’s reputation for craftsmanship, reliability and excellent customer service.
Alongside his operational leadership, Simon manages the business’s health and safety function and is a trained Mental Health First Aider, supporting the wellbeing of colleagues across the organisation.
