The National Trust

This project included the full refurbishment of the Grade I listed Riding School and
Stable Block at the prestigious Nostell Priory in Wakefield. The new facilities provide enhanced residences, visitor facilities and a wedding venue. Stonework, window renovation and roof work form the major part of external restoration elements as well as the installation of a biomass boiler in the surrounding grounds. The entire Riding School timber / slate roof structure has been renewed and enhanced with the installation of substantial glazed roof lights.

Internally, the building has been completely restored incorporating heritage trades such as lime plaster. Extensive samples to ensure the works were sympathetic to the existing features were provided by key trades such as stonework, plaster and joinery. During the progress of the project we introduced regular tours of the project’s progress to visitors and Trust members.
