The works included replacing kitchens, bathrooms and redecorating throughout. The project was time restricted due to the nature of the Clients operations. The programme was dictated by work activity in each property rather than moving from one property to the next once the first was complete, i.e. in the first four days we completed the strip out of all 21 properties, followed by the screeding of the floors and so on. We met the target completion of four weeks and handed over all 21 properties one day early ready for occupation.
William Birch operated their Environmental policy on this project and specific environmental issues were addressed such as the use of dust suppressors being fitted to all plant used within the homes. 90% of all the waste generated on this scheme was diverted from landfill and all packaging was recycled. In addition all the site operatives were from York as William Birch is a locally based employer.
William Birch received the following compliment from the Resident Manager at the end of the project and has been asked to price future projects;
“It has been a pleasure to have you all on site, the houses look great and I know the students will love living in them. You have made the refurbishment stress free and I will miss having you on site”
