An extension to Temple Bank House at Bradford Royal Infirmary to provide a new two-storey Health Research Offices built using a composite concrete and steel frame integrating into the existing Temple Bank House offices. The works required a significant re-profiling of the existing ground levels to reduce levels across the site.
The clients brief was to provide an iconic structure that offered inspirational office space for its research team and provide an exceptionally high quality finish. The client was also keen to secure BREEAM ‘very good’ we worked closely with the Project Team to achieve this and go beyond their original BREEAM targets.
Positioned on the only access road through the main Bradford Hospital car park the site was particularly restrictive and was a busy area of the hospital campus with 700 cars on average passing the site on a daily basis. Control of traffic both to the site and for the continued hospital deliveries was maintained through efficient use of a traffic management system, clear segregation and thorough use of signage. Access to the site was ‘manned’ during peak periods and at times of deliveries to allow for the safe access and egress. Our dedicated Site Manager was praised by the client for his understanding nature towards the existing hospital operations and his reciprocal customer service skills in finding suitable solutions to meet their requirements.
