Prince Charles Visits Welbeck

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall has visited the prestigious Artisan Bakery that William Birch converted from a motor yard into the UK’s first School of Artisan Food.

Set in a beautiful 200 year old grade II listed building on the private Welbeck Estate in North Nottinghamshire the non-profit School of Artisan Food runs courses in bakery, cheese-making, brewing, butchery, pickling and preserving and shares the building with Welbeck Bakehouse, also constructed as part of the main scheme by William Birch.

The Prince and Duchess arrived by helicopter and were escorted to the School of Artisan Food, where they met staff and students. Whilst on the estate, the Prince and Duchess unveiled a plaque to commemorate their visit, which was greeted by a warm round of applause.
