The national Considerate Constructor scheme independently monitors construction sites’ performance against 8 criteria that relate to the impact construction operations have on safety, the environment, sustainability, relationships with neighbours and general consideration for the public.
While compliance with the scheme is set at 24 and the industry average is around 30, the Company has set a target of 32 for its sites to achieve. This is regularly being surpassed and over the past two years the Company has received two national awards for sites scoring over 35 points.
The latest achievements of 37 points by both the Thornton School Extension project in Bradford and the Lowfields My Place development in Sheffield have exceeded all previous performances by the Company’s sites.
Chris Birch, Managing Director, says “This success is down to the development of a positive attitude towards minimizing the unwanted side effects of construction operations that have in the past given the industry a bad name. These two sites are to be congratulated and we hope they receive the national awards they deserve”.
