Project Overview

The Luna development is a £5m project that has provided 48 new apartments, in a densely populated residential area less than 2 miles from our Head Office.

Scope of Works

Built on the former Cherry Tree House care facility, the apartments are a mix of 1 and 2 bed homes in three separate blocks located within walking distance of the city centre, they benefit from private parking and individual gardens.

Challenges & Our Approach

Restricted, land-locked site

The project was delivered on a tightly constrained site within a dense neighbourhood, with no central storage space and multiple buildings under construction simultaneously.

Solution: Smart logistics and precise coordination

Through meticulous planning and close collaboration with subcontractors, deliveries and trades were carefully sequenced using a just-in-time approach. Materials were routed into two managed compounds, keeping access clear for cranes, plant and deliveries and ensuring the programme ran smoothly despite the site constraints.

Sustainability

Continuing our client’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, each apartment has secure under-cover bike storage, as well as access to parking spaces equipped with EV charging points. Tenants can also make use of the nearby national cycle path to encourage a reduction in car use.

Outcome

The Luna development has successfully delivered 48 high-quality, modern apartments in a dense residential area, providing much-needed housing close to York city centre.

The project transformed the former care facility site into a well-planned residential scheme with private parking, individual gardens, and a mix of 1- and 2-bedroom homes.

The development has enhanced the local streetscape, maximised the site’s potential, and created attractive, functional homes that contribute positively to the community.
