Project Overview
Scope of Works
Additional work was carried out based on each centre’s specific needs. One notable centre, Kirkstall, required fire safety upgrades, while Hannah House, a residential care and education centre for severely disabled children, needed careful scheduling to accommodate both the 24-hour care and the academic timetable of its residents.

Challenges & Our Approach
Multi-site project
The works were designed to be delivered across multiple sites simultaneously, with typically three sites being worked on at one time. A consistent Construction Manager (CM), three dedicated supervisors, and one consistent Quantity Surveyor (QS) managed the sites across Leeds. This approach enabled the team to maintain continuity, transitioning smoothly from one phase to the next while meeting the client’s requirements and budget.
Working in an Operational Healthcare Environment
Flexibility was critical due to the ongoing operations within the healthcare centres. The team coordinated with multiple designated representatives to minimize disruption, ensuring that construction did not interfere with treatment rooms, staff duties, or patient activities. Out-of-hours (OOH) work was scheduled where necessary to mitigate disruptions, and safe segregation of construction zones ensured the safety of everyone on-site.
Outcome
This backlog maintenance project successfully upgraded fourteen healthcare centres across Leeds.
Through careful planning, coordination, and adherence to healthcare-specific regulations, the project was completed with minimal disruption to the centres’ daily operations on time and to budget.
The team managed multiple sites simultaneously, overcame significant logistical challenges, and delivered a quality result that met the client’s expectations and improved the functionality of the healthcare facilities.
