Awards a Plenty

Four very different awards have been received recently as a result of the efforts of William Birch & Sons and its employees.

Firstly, the new £4.6m Stanbrook Abbey Monastery, built by the Company on the edge of the North York Moors, has received a National award from the Civic Trust for its outstanding contribution to the quality and appearance of the environment and its positive impact on the local community.
 
Secondly, apprentice, Michael knight has been presented at York Colleges Awards Evening with the Cameo Junior Award for the best 2nd year bricklayer apprentice.
 
Thirdly, the restoration of redundant farm outbuildings at Fountains Abbey for the National Trust to form five luxury holiday cottages has received the Restoration Award at the 2010 Yorkshire Rural Awards ceremony at Harrogate Pavilions.
 
Finally, the £2.1m ultra sustainable Education Centre just completed for the Royal Horticultural Society at their Harlow Carr Gardens in Harrogate has been recognized as being run by Site Manager, Carl Barrow, with a great deal of consideration for all those who might be affected by the construction operations. Carl received a Bronze Award from the national Considerate Constructors Scheme at a recent ceremony in Manchester.
