An important milestone has taken shape above Dewsbury town as the Grade II listed Dewsbury Arcade undergoes a major programme of restoration.
At the heart of these works is the Arcade’s striking glazed roof, a defining architectural feature that has been carefully restored by specialists The Standard Patent Glazing Company Limited.
For John Pickles, who is leading the roof works, this project represents far more than a technical challenge. It is a continuation of family heritage. John’s father worked on the original glazed roof installation in the 1980s, and today John is applying that same craftsmanship and expertise to restore it for a new generation.
This powerful connection between past and present captures the true spirit of the project. Regeneration is not simply about buildings. it is about people, skills and stories that span decades, shaping the identity of a place and its community.
As main contractor, we are incredibly proud to play a part in the transformation of Dewsbury Arcade. The restoration of this historic landmark demonstrates how heritage, specialist expertise and shared commitment can come together to deliver something truly meaningful for the town’s business community and wider public.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved in the project. Their craft, care and dedication are helping to secure the future of a landmark that the community can once again be proud of.
