Building information modelling (BIM) is an employer's requirement on the Fulford School Expansion project however it has been recently embraced by William Birch & Sons Ltd as we recognise the importance of the technology in our delivery of construction services.
On the Fulford School Expansion project BIM has been used for:
- Spatial management / planning to demonstrate to the client how areas will work
- Design co-ordination between consultants to ensure elements work together
- Scheduling of doors and windows
- Clash detection
Clash detection has proved invaluable on the Fulford School Expansion project classroom block where the fabricators model highlighted a steelwork/window clash some two months earlier then would have been the case under a traditional project.
