Chris Birch, Chairman of William Birch, has announced from November 1st 2016 that Simon Potter and Gemma Shahjahan have joined the Board of Directors as Construction Director and Business Development Director respectively.

Gemma Shahjahan joined the business in 2010 after a number of years working in business development roles for national contractors working for blue chip clients. Gemma has seen the business return to growth and to its £23m turnover and will be instrumental in offering to existing and new customers the company’s unique combination of high quality construction services allied to a heritage background, with a particular focus on high standards of customer service.
Chris Birch said “both internal appointments are a reflection of the business strategy to grow and develop talent in the business, which has 100 strong dedicated employees, whilst bringing in fresh ideas and a new approach to building services. Simon’s longevity with the business, some 33 years, and Gemma’s fairly recent introduction just a few years ago reflect our desire to continue delivering customer-centric, innovative and sustainable construction services which is so often complimented by our customers. I look forward to their important contribution to the company and seeing the business flourish”
Both Simon and Gemma live in York with their families. Gemma read English Language at the University of York whilst Simon completed his City and Guilds at York College.
