The £4.3m project can be briefly described as remodelling/landscaping to the
existing parklands, the demolition of redundant buildings with the restoration/refurbishment
of existing buildings (these being the Boat House, Toilet Blocks, Rangers Barn
and Lodge) and the construction of a new Play Area and a £1.2m Interpretation
Centre. These works are split into 24 works proposals with approximately 9 running
at any one time.
The works were interrupted due to historic mining issues and 2 weeks were lost due to the adverse weather in July and early August. That said, we have already completed 4 works proposals.
These being the demolition of 2 redundant buildings, construction of a new access road feeding the existing visitors car park area and the repairs works to the existing park dry stone boundary walls.
Works being undertaken at this time are the refurbishment of the play area toilet block and construction of the new Play Area. These works are due for completion at the end of this month with the Client having an official opening in mid October.
Work scheduled in the coming weeks are the construction of the new £1.2m Interpretation centre and the construction of the new Boat House at the Mere.
